About The Song of the Three Holy Children

The three men in the furnace got a soundtrack. Slotted into Daniel chapter 3, this expansion gives Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego what the Hebrew text never did: a prayer from the flames and a hymn of praise sung in the fire. That hymn — "O all ye works of the Lord, bless ye the Lord" — became one of the most sung pieces of ancient worship, preserved in morning-prayer traditions to this day. The story itself is old, but the added songs are Greek-era compositions, likely from the second century BC, written to turn an escape story into a liturgy.

This book is also available in the KJV (1611).
